VRIDA
The sculpture "VRIDA," derived from the Swedish word for "to turn," pays homage to the architectural wonder of Malmö's Turning Torso. Designed by Hugo Leprince of Dyrka, who grew up in Malmö, this piece merges the iconic structure's essence with the modern, brutalist symbol of Dyrka—the "+" sign, reminiscent of a cruciform steel column. The result is the striking VRIDA sculpture, a blend of Malmö's architectural heritage and contemporary design.
VRIDA was painted by Argentine artist Sanctum (Yubran Gosne), a captivating exploration of asemic calligraphy. Sanctum, drawing from his studies in various scripts, masterfully combines ornamental, abstract, and organic strokes to create a symphony of visual language.
In "VRIDA," the boldness of the piece is contrasted by the organic movement of the calligraphy. The absence of recognizable text invites viewers into a realm where strokes dance freely.
